1. Information We Collect
Account information
If you sign in (for example, with Google), we receive your name, email address, profile picture URL, and a unique account identifier from the sign-in provider. We do not receive or store your Google password.
Usage data
We collect chess-related data you generate while using the Service: games played, puzzles attempted, concepts read, chat questions you send to the Guru, voice-narration sessions, and timestamps for these activities. This data powers your stats, recommendations, and study plan.
Device and log data
Our servers automatically log IP address, browser user agent, pages visited, and error reports. This is used for debugging, security, and improving the Service.
Local storage
Some preferences (avatar choice, lesson progress, error log buffer) are stored in your browser's local storage and never leave your device unless you sign in and opt into cloud sync.
Payment information
Paid plans are processed by a third-party payment processor (such as Stripe). We do not store full card numbers on our servers. We receive only a token, the last four digits, and billing metadata required to manage your subscription.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and operate the Service, including personalized lessons and plans.
- To process subscriptions, billing, and refunds.
- To respond to support inquiries you send to hello@aichess.guru.
- To detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and security incidents.
- To improve the Service, debug errors, and develop new features.
- To send transactional emails (account, billing, security). We do not send marketing email without your consent.
3. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only as needed to operate the Service:
- Sign-in providers (e.g. Google): authenticate your identity. Subject to their own privacy policies.
- AI provider (DeepSeek): receives the text of your chat messages with the Guru and the position context, in order to generate replies. They do not receive your account email or name.
- Payment processor (Stripe): receives card details directly via their secure widget. We never see the full card number.
- Cloud hosting (Google Cloud): operates the servers and databases that store your data.
- Law enforcement: when legally required by a valid subpoena, court order, or other lawful request.
4. Data Retention
Account and usage data is retained while your account is active. You may request deletion at any time by emailing hello@aichess.guru. We will delete or anonymize your data within 30 days, subject to backup retention cycles and any legal record-keeping obligations (typically up to 7 years for billing records).
5. Security
We use industry-standard measures including TLS encryption in transit, encrypted database connections, OS-level access controls, and least-privilege credentials. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security but we promptly investigate and notify affected users in the event of a confirmed breach.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (including United States residents in California, EU/UK residents under GDPR/UK-GDPR, and others), you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Delete your data (right to erasure).
- Export your data in a portable format.
- Opt out of certain processing.

7. Children
